A Legacy of Academic Excellence Since 1964

Jiwaji University, Gwalior came into existence on May 23, 1964, through M.P. Govt. Ordinance No. 15 of 1963. Late Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone on 11th December 1964 at a sprawling campus of over 225 acres of land at Naulakha Parade ground.

The University's jurisdiction extends over 8 districts — Ashoknagar, Bhind, Datia, Guna, Gwalior, Morena, Shivpuri, and Sheopur. It is home to over 420 affiliated colleges, offering more than 150 courses across disciplines including Science, Commerce, Arts, Law, Engineering, Management, and Technology.

Jiwaji University also hosts one of India's only university-level Department of Biotechnology-sponsored Neuroscience teaching programs, with active collaboration with CSIR, ICMR, DBT, DST, DRDO and UGC labs.
